Alright, blood contract. how powerful is it really do you come up with a contract or dose it have some background i don't know about.
and breaking the contract do you come up with what happens
like there eyes rot out and never be able to replace them or you die by a beer truck.Dose ST have to approve of it ?
Sorry about not paying more attention to these boards.. I've been rather busy of late.
Blood contract is yes, amazingly powerful. But it also has very hefty drawbacks and many limitations. Also any time in which you make a Blood Contract be sure to consult your ST, to see what they believe to be clear abuse of the power.
As for using it. All contracts take 3 days to make. Thus you can really only make them knowing you are going to make it. And as I am utterly against the clear abuse that "pre-casting" or "partial casting" only to finish later when needed causes. You cannot begin a ritual and hope to stop it, then pick it back up later where you left off. Thats just absurd.
Now, the primary use of this is to force people into doing things for you. It does not at all require they sign their correct name, name, or any of that really, as long as they themselves put pen to the contract. Also, it is very hard to make a contract that won't be violated within the first 15 minutes of its signing. The end effect of what it provides you with upon breaking of the contract is that the violator of said contract ends up in Torpor, that is induced via magical means and is not "soakable". While the text says damage. What is needed to be known is that it enters you into Torpor in a violent fashion, thus you wake up based on path/humanity ratings. Which if you are not on Humanity and at least path 4, you are not waking up in game time unless someone else wakes you.
Now for particularly devious players. Once its known that you have this ritual, and people have seen what happens with the ill effects of breaking it. You can choose to just make -gasp- fake ones, and people will usually abide by them just the same. Now the real problem with the Blood contract in a game, is player honesty, and player realization. Now, either or, and sometimes both do not always coincide. And not always because of the other. They may not realize they've violated it. And or, they may choose to "ignore" it, and hope you don't realize. The two may or may not always go hand in hand in either case of knowing or not knowing.
The best way to do these contracts from a "How can I maxamize the screwage" stand point is to write an actual contract and ensure that you put in a clause that states they must follow the traditions. They are guaranteed to fail the contract within a weeks span. or make sure oyu add in clauses that force them into little and very rediculous requirements. Though the best one to add in, is that they are never allowed to take arms against Clan Tremere. Nor are they allowed to take actions that would place an imposition upon Clan Tremere.
Now for the limitations of the ritual, beyond the initial length of time required to cast the ritual. Both parties are bound by it, meaning you can screw yourself by violating it just as much as the intended victim can. So always be sure to word that you specifically have as few obligations within the contract as possible. The contract is also very literal. Just because you write it with spirit intent on the agreement, does not mean the person is held to that. They are held to the literal terms on the contract. So be sure that you don't put yourself in a bind when you write it up. These limitations also involve that just because the contract has been enacted, does not mean you have any idea where the victim of its wrath is. Sadly though, the wording does not state that violation of the contract ends it either (going from memory on this one). Nor does it state that completion of said contract ends it either. As if there is more than one clause that does not have any kind of time frame limitation upon it within the contract, then it never ends as the contract is on going. So always be very careful in your wording. It is also usually best to only make a couple of real ones then use fakes from there on out if you can help it, just because of this.
Another limitation is that it does not actually kill the victim it only places them in Torpor. Thus they can be woken back up. But, that also means that they may die to someone else's hands and not your own.
I'll add more to this later.
